Friday is CSA day here at the farmer's market in Quincy, Mass. Since I'm a city girl (still have Connecticut country in my heart) it's a thrill to cart home our share of fruit and veggies, roots and greens, dirt, stowaway bugs and all. I love how the car smells like earth the whole way home! The Stillman's Farm family and friends who make it possible are heroes, bringing us nature from the heart of Massachusetts. You can subscribe to a local CSA too, find your nearest one here.
Our Stillman's shares all stacked up!
The CSA also provides endless COLOR for cooking and eating (make sure you eat your colors!) I decided to paint before I ate. Here's what my studio looked like last week...pretty messy as usual, (save a stray potato):
Radishes look like they should always be near paint palette.

Ooh, the kale painting is my fave! Such a bountiful haul! Happy weekend to you, too! :)
Thanks, Nina. You too!
So visually delicious!
Your blog makes me so happy. I can't wait to come back here on the next rainy day.
Thanks, lady Kate, and Ms. Gigi!
your blog is making me hungry for food and to paint!
:)
lovely colors... when I lived in Portland, the Farmers Market was a big deal...! :D
Oh my goodness, Julia! Love these doodle! :)
Your produce illos are so vibrant and luscious! I picked up some plums yesterday with a beautiful fuschia and pale green pattern; now you've inspired me to take them to my watercolor table. And it makes me happy to see I'm not the only one who uses the word 'bluebs'!
mmmm, yes paint away Amy! I'm always surprised by how vibrant farm produce is...would love to see yours!
A feast for the eyes. Literally. I have been meaning to join a CSA or Boston Organics but it would seem I prefer to throw my money at Wholefoods (I know for shame!!). You have inspired me though, and I am going to walk to the farmer's market in HS today!! PS, love the Kale. If only people knew veggies could be so pretty they would eat more of them!
Great work as always!
I enjoy your painting. It make me want to paint my herbs and they will look great.
I've been overdosing on radishes & beets because I can't resist their color!!? these illustrations are lovely
